An automated process of refreshing the jobs or reports on a regular basis.

Scheduling is a process of planning any event or a job at a required time. Similarly, on the technical front, scheduling helps in automating the required procedure for refreshing processes, reports or jobs on regular or required intervals.

Based on the selected output, the scheduled reports are sent to the individual user or groups in the required file formats. Often, the scheduled reports are sent in PDF or Excel formats.

For example, if a user requires a report to be run every Monday at 10: 00 AM each week, then the report can be scheduled to run at the desired time with the required output formats.

Scheduling is not just limited to a report; a user can even set some scheduled processes. For example, if an administrator wants a backup of all their work in a single day, then they can set a process that runs every night at a required time ensuring this action is completed without any required human intervention. This scheduled process enables the administrator to have the backup of all this work by the end of the day. The administrator does not have to bother with running the process every day manually, as the process is automated.

Advantages of Scheduling

  • Allows efficient and timely distribution of information to relevant users
  • Ensures that heavy querying is not done during peak hours
  • Minimizes the manual intervention by automating the processes
  • Enables users to analyze the changes in the data in real- time
